Heading north, you’ll come across one of Kefalonia’s most stunning beaches – Myrtos Beach. It nestles by green hills and rocky white cliffs and earns its reputation because some parts of it still remain largely untouched. The perfect place to rest your head and sip fruity pina coladas; days here are slow-paced and relaxing.
The island enjoys a warm Mediterranean climate with soaring temperatures and guaranteed sunshine throughout the year. If you like working on your summer tan and can tolerate plenty of heat, then the best time of year to visit is between June and August, when Kefalonia temperatures reach highs of 30°C. However, if you wish to explore the island in cooler weather, we recommend you travel in winter when it’s only around 13°C and relatively mild. Although, it’s fair to say that the sea will definitely too cold to swim in at this time of year!

If you’re in search of a traditional beach holiday, then Lassi is the right choice for you. Its intimate atmosphere boasts a wealth of hotels and self catering apartments a short walk from pretty shores and a wealth of bars and restaurant to spend your summer evenings.
The beautiful villages of Assos and Fiscardo, as well as the breathtaking Myrtos, Antisamos, Skala, and Lourdas beaches can’t go a miss either. Many characterful churches and historic castles can be found in the surrounding areas of Valsamata, Peratata, Assos, and Markopoulo; ideal if you have a taste for culture.
Thanks to the large size of the island, there are a wide range of options for food and drink in Kefalonia. The best places to eat are generally found in the seaside resorts, such as Skala, Lassi, Lourdas, Fiscardo, Sami, and Agia Efimia. Argostoli and Lixouri are also home to quite a few nice restaurants too. Tempt your taste buds with Kefalonian meat pie, marinated chicken, and the famous dish Bourbourelia. Wash down with a swig of ouzo like a real Greek would!
