Holidays in Balearics

Searching for a getaway that offers everything from world-famous nightlife to historic artefacts, with a backdrop of glorious sunshine and beautiful landscapes? Look no further than a holiday to the stunning Balearic Islands! A highly popular destination with British holidaymakers, the picturesque Spanish islands of the Balearics have so much to offer.

The weather in the Balearics is warm and sunny throughout the year, but if you'd like really gorgeous weather on your holiday, visit between June and September when average temperatures are in the mid-twenties. Ibiza is the hottest Balearic island, where average summer temperatures are a delightful 26°C.

The four largest and most-visited Balearic Islands are Menorca, Majorca, Ibiza and Formentera. Menorca holidays are ideal for sun-seekers looking to unwind; quieter than the other Balearics, there are over 100 beaches with clear blue seas to enjoy, or you can get involved in the watersports when you need to cool off in the heat. Cala'n Bosch is a favourite resort on the island and is famous for its great bars and restaurants.

Explore the quaint villages and atmospheric forests on a holiday in Majorca, where you'll also find the rugged coves of Cala D'or. If you fancy letting your hair down on your Balearics holiday, head to the island's entertaining Magaluf resort and enjoy the lively bars. Or, visit Palma, which is ideal for couples or friends looking for a chic city break.

And then there's Ibiza getaways, the favourite Balearic island amongst partygoers. In the summer months San Antonio and Playa d'en Bossa are two the best places in the world to party with their bustling beach bars and iconic nightclubs, including Pacha, Amnesia and Privilege. But in addition to the nightlife, Ibiza has dozens of beautiful beaches, so why not grab a fruity cocktail or cold beer and relax in style? If you fancy a break from the beach, explore the markets and fantastic shops in Ibiza Town before rewarding yourself with a refreshing glass of sangria! There's also a fascinating UNESCO World Heritage Site in Ibiza, including the fortifications of Ibiza City.

The 'sister island' to Ibiza, Formentera has stunning beaches and crystal-clear waters. There are many historical sites to see, or you can get active on the beach with host of watersports activities. If you're keen to venture further, all of the attractions of Ibiza are only half an hour away by boat.

Holidays in the Balearic Islands tend to centre around the beach, but there's plenty to do besides swimming and sunbathing. Boat trips, water sports, hiking, horse riding, sightseeing, golf, shopping and water parks are all available, depending on where you stay. Nightlife across the Balearics varies greatly. Ibiza is synonymous with clubbing, thanks to the world-famous venues in and around San Antonio. On Majorca, Magaluf and Palma Nova are party hotspots, with big name clubs and plenty of bars to choose from. Elsewhere on the island, the pace of life is slower and more suited to couples and families. On Formentera, nightlife is very quiet and tends to be hotel-based. Menorca has a good choice of bars and discos in its larger resorts, but these tend to be more family-orientated and don't attract crowds of revellers.

The Balearic Islands offer an array of places to eat and drink, from quaint restaurants serving tapas and fish to international outlets and fast food joints. Larger seaside resorts tend to have a higher concentration of restaurants. All inclusive holidays in the Balearics - where your food and drink is included in the package - are increasingly popular.
