Las Vegas - Beyond the Casino

Date Posted: 26/03/2018

Las Vegas… famed for its vibrant nightlife, themed hotels, over-elaborate displays and amazing entertainment options, this place offers more than just gambling. It’s known as one of the most popular tourist destinations in the United States and it’s clear to see why…

The strip runs for 4.2 miles and contains 40 casinos. Everyone knows Vegas is famous for its casinos. You could be spinning the slots in the Bellagio, hoping for 21 in Caesars Palace or betting it all on black at the Red Rock Resort. Poker, roulette, blackjack; you name it, they’ve got it.  However it’s not just casinos that pull people to the Vegas strip. There’s a plethora of activities and shows for you to enjoy while you’re there.

Fermont Street Experience offers an unrivalled zip line experience. The Zipline starts 77ft up and flyers land halfway down the pedestrian promenade. If you’re feeling a bit more daring, the Zoomline takes off from 114ft high and flies 1,750ft “superhero-style” down the centre of the Fremont Street Experience to a landing platform at the Golden Gate, the city’s most historic casino.  You’ll fly right underneath Viva Vision, the world’s largest video screen, which is a must-see in Vegas. This screen is a staggering 4 blocks long and features 12.5 million LED lights. You will be just one of more than 17 million visitors to witness the free light show. Enjoy the exclusive custom shows with dazzling visuals that includes music from some of the world’s best artists such as The Who, Green Day and Tiesto.

Now there’s feeling a little daring…or feeling VERY DARING. If you are, the Fear the Walking Dead Survival experience is the newest (and most terrifying) attraction in Vegas. Ever thought of putting yourself in a military medical facility, during growing rumours of a zombie outbreak? Well now you can! Enjoy elaborate sets, immersive audio and high-tech motion simulator technology as you get transported into the world of bloodthirsty infected!

If Fermont Street hasn’t managed to get the adrenaline flowing, then Stratosphere certainly will! Set on top of the hotel tower, there are four exceptionally thrilling rides waiting; Big Shot, Insanity, X-Scream and Sky Jump. Big Shot will shoot you 160ft into the air at 45mph to a gigantic height of 1,081 feet and back down again! Insanity takes you 63ft over the edge of the 900ft tower. You’ll hang in the open air on a mechanical arm, tilt 70 degrees and be spun around, experiencing 3 G’s in the process. If there’s any consolation, you’ll get an amazing view of Las Vegas below!

X-Scream on the other hand will propel you headfirst 27 foot over the edge of the tower on a rollercoaster.  There is one final experience that in our eyes… you’d have to be crazy to do! Sky Jump does what it says on the tin; an open-air leap from the 829ft tower that you’ll freefall (controllably) from. Packages start from $119.99 per jump for approximately 17 seconds of sheer terror.

If there’s anything Vegas is good at, putting on a good show is certainly one of them. With concert residencies, comedy, circus, magic shows and much more, there’s a lot of variety. Elton John, Celine Dion, Jennifer Lopez, Backstreet Boys, Lionel Richie and Rod Stewart are all due to perform their residencies soon, so snap up tickets while you can. You can also enjoy the magic of some of the very best magicians; Criss Angel, David Copperfield or Penn & Teller. Cirque Du Soleil have six shows, meaning you’ll have more than enough opportunity to sample some of the world’s most phenomenal acrobats and entertainers. Two of their shows are even inspired by the music of the Beatles and Michael Jackson!

You’re going to need a place to lay your head after a day of gambling, thrill-seeking and shows. Vegas has a whole host of swanky hotels; MGM Grand, Caesars Palace, The Venetian and The Palazzo to name a few. MGM Grand is the third largest hotel complex in the world and a non-stop resort of gambling, shows, restaurants and nightlife. The Palazzo offers a swanky casino resort with plush Italian-inspired décor where The Venetian captures the soul of renaissance Venice. Caesars Palace stands on the busiest section of the strip and it’s the home to some residencies so you wouldn’t have to go far! It’s luxurious and modern with stone accents and Roman-inspired artwork – making every guest feel royal. A lot of the hotels in Vegas have casinos and/or shows for you to enjoy while you’re there. What we do know is that you won’t get bored here… book Vegas today!
