Tanzania
One of the most vibrant, beautiful and exciting places in the whole of Africa; Tanzania has a wealth of vast landscapes, rich wildlife and fascinating cultures to offer. Its wilderness areas include the plains of Serengeti National Park, famous for its annual migration of wildebeest and zebra. Known as one of the most famous safari destinations in the world, this park covers an enormous 14,763km². The Serengeti offers top wildlife viewing all year round and it’s superb for spotting predators. Cheetahs, Buffalos, Elephants and Leopards are all easily seen while Rhino sightings are possible but rare. A safari in Tanzania is a must.
Many adventurers head to Tanzania to take on Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain with three volcanic cones. This dormant volcano is around 5,895m above sea level. Six official routes will take you to the top of Kilimanjaro and each one of them provides amazing scenery. Saying that, you have to be physically fit before even contemplating taking on the heights of Kilimanjaro!
It’s not all about adventure though. A trip to Zanzibar offers fabulous beaches and many ideal spots to kick back and watch the world go by, coupled with an active beach-party scene. The sea also becomes a playground for diving, snorkelling and windsurfing. Whether you prefer the privacy of a private island or the amenities of a larger hotel, there’s good options for every traveller
Seychelles
With ancient rainforests, waterfalls, coral reefs and pristine beaches, the beautiful islands of Seychelles are a unique place to holiday. Like Tanzania, you’ll find rare animals such as the Aldabra Tortoise (the world’s largest free-roaming tortoise!). Snorkelling is something of a must do. The best months to experience it are March, April, May, September, October and November when the water is usually calmer with clear visibility. There are five main places to snorkel; Ste. Anne Marine National Park, The Vista Bay Rocks, Curieuse Island, Anse Lazio and Coco Island. Each one comes with different marine life; so depending on where you pick, you could be swimming with anything ranging from bottlenose dolphins to eels!
A trip to La Digue will surprise you. The beaches are award winning and never fail to impress. The giant granite boulders of Anse Marron are stunning and well worth a visit. An excellent place for photographs! The boulders protect a shallow, crystal clear pool from the depths of the deep blue sea. La Digue Island is a place with barely any vehicles. There are very few paved roads but you can hire a bike from the harbour and ride parallel with some of the most unspoiled beaches in Seychelles. If you’re holidaying in Seychelles, there’s a high probability you want to relax… well it’s almost impossible not to.
Turks & Caicos
Turks and Caicos, a cluster of 40 low-lying islands in the Atlantic Ocean; offering world class luxury resorts, coral reefs and uncrowded beaches. Sample the unique serenity and hospitality of these beautiful islands. The 14-mile barrier reef makes it an incredible place to scuba-dive. If you’re lucky, you may catch the humpback whale migration, which happens between December and early January. Grace Bay is heaven on earth. The luscious blue seas crash against the pristine beaches. The sea is so blue, it looks more like a swimming pool! One popular activity in Grace Bay is trekking on a pony. Ride down roads and trails to the Long Beach Bay where if the weather permits, you’ll be able to ride your horse into the shallow waters! The horses LOVE the water. You’ll get to fully interact with your horse, even giving them a treat and a cuddle if you wish!
The Columbus Landfall National Park is the largest protected area on Grand Turk. There are many of the best beaches in the Grand Turk included in the national park. Another place for you to scuba dive is in the national park as there is more than two dozen sites! The reason that it’s called Columbus National Park is because Christopher Columbus’s first landfall in the Americas may have been at Grand Turk. This is because many of the landfall theories are based off his description of a flat, bean-shaped island with green trees, a pond or lagoon.
