Our Exclusive Arvia Insider: Everything you need to know

Kate Marshall, one of our Home Workers here at Hays Travel, has been chosen by P&O Cruises to be 1 of only 6 exclusive 'Arvia Insiders' here in the UK! This means she will be getting the lowdown on the fabulous Arvia, before the new ship sets sail in December this year. Kate will be learning about the food, drink, entertainment and activities you’ll be able to enjoy onboard.

And her research has already begun! This week, for the first ‘Insider’ event, Kate travelled up to London for a special food and wine focussed day with Arvia’s Food Hero’s José Pizarro and Olly Smith. Read about her great day out and inside scoops now! 



"Not only did I get to meet the lovely José and Olly over a beautiful lunch meeting, but I learnt all about the amazing menu and wine lists they have curated, that will be onboard Arvia when she’s launched later this year.

I honed in my Barry Island routes, and cooked a lush omelette, or in this case alongside Jose in the kitchen, I cooked a tortilla sabrosa!

For me, one of the best things about cruising is the fabulous food and drink onboard! And the choices onboard Arvia will truly tantalise your taste-buds! You can be sailing around the Mediterranean, sampling local wines, sharing some freshly made tapas, or even enjoying an evening sharing platter in the Glass House. What better way to spend your holiday, glass in hand, chatting with new and old cruising friends and sailing to your next destination.

Now I love my food and drink onboard whilst cruising across sapphire oceans, so this was an event very close to my heart! I learnt all about wine pairing with Olly Smith, understanding the importance of pairing a wine to the most dominant flavour in the meal, and he even gave me tips on what to drink when eating pickled onion monster munch – and for anyone wondering, it should always be a light sparkling white wine. It was just like being on a cruise, you always learn new things when sailing, you can always sample new food and drink, or for me, who would eat pintxos and tapas most days of the week, you can get to indulge in some much loved foodie favourites!

The food at José Pizarro’s restaurant was amazing and the menu we sampled will be available onboard Arvia in the Glass House and on celebration evenings in The Olive Grove. "
