Dame Irene Hays, Godmother to P&O Cruises Iona

We’re thrilled that our very own Dame Irene Hays is godmother to P&O Cruises Iona! 

The offical naming ceremony took place on 16th May 2021 where P&O Cruises filmed Iona’s arrival into Southampton so they could share all the best views from this unique event.

Other highlights of the event included a short, private performance from Gary Barlow, Music Director of The 710 Club on board Iona, a few words from P&O Cruises president, Paul Ludlow, as well as appearances from several other special guests. 

Introducing Iona’s godmother…

Dame Irene Hays is the owner and chair of Hays Travel Group. She was awarded a CBE in 2008 and made a Dame in the 2021 New Year’s Honours for her services to training, education and young people. Dame Irene has long been a powerful advocate of Hays Travel community and charitable activities – in which Hays Travel colleagues contribute to their local communities.
